Journey Kids (Birth-6th grade)
Journey Kids in a nutshell:
Journey Kids is the Children’s Program of Journey Church (ages 6 weeks to 6th Grade). Journey is a church for the entire family. Because of that, we place a high priority on the faith and future of our children. Journey Kids provides an incredible program at all of our weekend services for all ages! We believe the smaller the group the better. Here are the current age breakdowns for our Sunday programs. Nursery( 6weeks - walking), 2yo, 3,yo, 4/5yo, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5/6th Grade (2nd service only). To clear things up, we have 9 different classes offered at our Sunday morning services. Our team members work passionately week after week to ensure that Sunday morning is the best day of their week!
Security in Journey Kids
We work very hard to make sure every child that comes to Journey Kids is safe. Here is how we do that:
1. Electronic Check-In
Every child is electronically checked into Check-In System. We use a system called ‘Planning Center Check-Ins. It helps us keep track of every child that walks through our doors. If you are new, it only takes about 45 seconds to get registered in the system. When checked in, every child gets a name tag and every parent gets a security tag. Each of them have a random security number generated each week. We ask every parent to put their security tag on their shirt so we can recognize they have children and belong in this area of our church.
2. Secured Area
When the adult service starts our Children’s Area is completely locked down. No one can get into that hallway without our Journey Kids Security Team letting them in through coded door. Someone stands at door the entire service incase you need to go check on your child. If you have your security tag visible, they will let you in at anytime to check on your child. We have only one entrance to our Children’s Wing. No one can enter through any other door. This allows us monitor every person that comes into the children’s hallway. This may seem like a little much, but we want to ensure that your child is completely safe.
3. Security Cameras
Our classrooms are monitored by camera to allow us to have 100% accountability within our classrooms. There is a security monitor visible in our Check-In room that allows parents to see their child in their room. This is just an extra security measure we take here at Journey.
4. Qualified Team Members
Every Journey Kids team member has been background checked and referenced. Most of our teachers have experience in working with children before they ever volunteer in Journey Kids. It’s not a requirement, but its a plus! Our team is completely 100% volunteer! That helps us ensure that actually have people that love kids!
Journey Kids (Birth-K)
What is Journey Kids (Birth-K)?
Journey Kids (birth-K) are preschoolers that attend Journey Church. Your children will experience Bible stories and learn about God while doing fun hands-on activities.
What will my preschooler be learning?
Leaders in Journey Kids recognize that it's the parent’s responsibility to teach their preschoolers about God. We consider it a privilege to come alongside the parents to help lay your child's foundation of faith. We teach concepts such as God made me, God loves me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever! Journey Kids is such a fun learning experience that your preschooler will want to keep coming back!
Journey Kids (1st-4th grade)
What is Journey Kids (1st-4th grade)?
Journey Kids is a fun interactive time for 1st through 4th graders. They will experience God’s word through drama, singing, and small group time and apply what they learn to develop in wisdom, faith and friendship.
Of course we have the wow factor in our service, but that’s not what keeps them coming back week after week! We have learned that kids continue because of the relationships they form in our program! That’s why the single most important aspect of our service is small groups. Each week, kids split up into small group by grade. Meaning, we have a 1st grade group, 2nd grade group, 3rd grade group, and a 4th grade group. Every week they have hands on activities designed specifically for their age!
Journey Kids 56 (5th-6th grade)
5th and 6th Grade Ministry
Journey Kids 56 is our ministry exclusively for those in grades 5 and 6. We value every single age in our kids program. Preteens are at an age where they need to be challenged to live out and share their faith with confidence in knowing what they believe and why they believe it. This ministry revolves around Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight.” The Preteen years are exciting and demanding as children begin to develop their self-identity and chart their course down the road of life. Journey Kids 56 is a roadmap based on faith in Christ and teaching from the Bible.
It is a true blessing to get to spend time with your preschooler. I pray that Sunday is your child’s favorite day because he/she gets to come to Journey Kids. I have tried to answer many questions that you as a parent may have and want answers to before you feel comfortable leaving your preschooler in Journey Kids. I pray that the following will help you see that we truly love your preschooler and want them to be happy and safe.
How do you choose Team Members for Journey Kids classes?
We pray for God to show us who He has for Journey Kids. We ask all that show interest in teaching in Journey Kids to pray about it to make sure this is the area God has called them to serve in. Then they meet with our Journey Kids team leaders, to discuss what their role. After this is done and they have agreed to the guidelines of the Journey Kids teacher handbook Journey Church does a background check on the person interested.
What is Journey Kids security Guidelines?
We want you to feel comfortable leaving your preschooler in our care. That is why we at Journey Church feel that security must be of high importance. For the safety of all preschooler who attend Journey Kids we ask that you do the following things each time so that we may obtain the security that we feel is of most importance.
Who can pick up my preschooler from his/her Journey Kids class?
We ask that the parents/guardian bring and pick up their preschooler. We understand that sometimes someone else needs to pick your preschooler up for Journey Kids. This can only be done if he/she is over 18 and has the security tag issued at Check-In time.
How do I sign my preschooler into his/her class?
In the foyer, you will see the Journey Kids Preschool registration table. This is where you will sign your preschooler in and receive a printed name tag for your child and a security tag for you. This tag is important because it has a matching number which appears on the child's name tag as well as the name tag the parent will keep. If for any reason we may need contact with the parent during a worship service, the number will appear on the screen. If/when you see your child's number on the screen, please report to your child's classroom.
Also, for safety and security measures we ask that at the end of the worship service, when picking up your child from his/her room, please give the teacher your matching name tag to confirm pickup for your preschooler. This way we make sure that each preschooler is picked up by the appropriate person. Please remember that at least one parent must remain on campus while your preschooler attends an Journey Kids class. This ensures that we can reach you in the event of an emergency.
What are your polices for sick children?
Young children are very susceptible to cold, flu and other diseases. We realize that a child's illness can be a difficult time for parents and that it is often frustrating to rearrange your schedule to provide care for a sick child at home.
We want to help eliminate these concerns as much as possible. The best way to prevent illness is to prevent exposure. This requires our Preschool Area to have the healthiest environment possible by following these guidelines.
Please keep your child at home if they have shown any of the following symptoms in the last 24 hours:
• Discharge in or around the eyes
• Green or yellow runny nose
• Excessive coughing
• Questionable rash
• Any communicable disease
If your child is being treated with an antibiotic, he or she should have received treatment for at least 24 hours before coming to church. We can not give your child medicine while they are at Journey Kids
